This flowerpot is the gift for villagers in Xishuangbanna, a backward region of China. The tropical climate there with year-round favorable temperature and precipitation cultivates rich camellia sinensis. This flowerpot is thus inspired by a great many daily wasted tea leaves
I tested different proportions of cement/leaves to realize aesthetics and function of the flowerpot. The fermented leaves show a unique texture, and chemical properties of tea fertilize the plant inside. It can be a souvenir, contributing to the local tourism economy. The local kids can also make different shapes of flowerpots by themselves, stimulating creativity and dexterity.
